FAQs
What services does your traffic control company provide?
We offer professional flagging, sign setups, lane closures, traffic control plans, event and parade control, and pilot car services.
How do I schedule flaggers or traffic control for my project?
You can schedule by calling our office or emailing your project details, dates, and location. We’ll confirm availability by phone and provide a quote or dispatch as needed.
How far in advance do I need to book flaggers?
The sooner the better, but we handle emergencies and can usually dispatch flaggers within an hour of your call, depending on availability. For larger projects, at least one week’s notice is preferred.
What areas of Oregon do you serve?
We’re based in Springfield and cover a 30-mile radius with no additional travel charges. For locations outside this range, we charge $0.57 per mile plus travel time at our standard rate. Projects 120 miles or more from Springfield and lasting multiple days include a per diem/meal allowance charge based on Oregon county rates.
Is there a minimum call-out time?
Yes. For standard wage rate jobs, there’s a 4-hour minimum. For prevailing wage jobs, the minimum is 2 hours.
Can you provide night work or weekend coverage?
Yes. Work performed between 6PM and 6AM or on weekends is billed at our overtime rate. Work on federally recognized holidays is billed at double time.
What safety protocols do your flaggers follow on-site?
Our flaggers follow all ODOT and MUTCD regulations. They wear high-visibility Class 3 safety gear, use two-way radios for communication, and ensure proper sign spacing and traffic control setup.
How do I become a certified flagger in Oregon?
You must complete an ODOT-approved Flagger Certification class taught by a certified instructor. While some websites offer online flagger courses, Oregon only recognizes classes approved by ODOT.
Do you offer ODOT-approved Flagger Certification classes?
Yes. We offer ODOT-approved Flagger Certification classes on the first Thursday of each month at the Eugene Builders Exchange, located at 2460 W 11th Ave, Eugene, OR 97402.
The class runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, lasts 4 hours, and costs $130. Each participant receives the Oregon Temporary Traffic Control Handbook.
You can sign up by calling 541-344-0304 or emailing dispatch@westflag.com. Upon passing the test, you’ll receive a temporary flagging card, and Chemeketa Community College will mail your permanent card to the address on your registration form within two weeks.
If I get a job with you, what equipment is provided?
We provide an ANSI Class 3 safety vest, rain jacket and pants, hard hat, and a night wand. You’ll need to supply your own two-way radios and a retroreflective stop/slow paddle. Work boots are required on all job sites.
